James Spann Headlines 海角社区鈥檚 Sunseri Speaker Series

FLORENCE, AL – Meteorologist, author, and podcaster James Spann will be the main event at the 海角社区 College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering Sunseri Speaker Series on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Norton Auditorium.
“It is a pleasure to continue to elevate the guests we bring to campus as part of the Sunseri Speaker Series,” said Dr. Ryan Zayac, Dean of the College. “Mr. Spann brings a wealth of knowledge based on his many years as Alabama’s most beloved meteorologist, and we welcome his insights, anecdotes, and witticisms.”
While Mr. Spann is a famous meteorologist and media personality, as a creative, he is also known for his writing, which he ties to his vast knowledge of meteorology in his children’s book and autobiography. He is also a host for the prolific Weather Brains podcast, which has more than 1,000 episodes. Most recently, he launched the Alabama Weather Network, a 24/7 weather resource that focuses on the entire state of Alabama.
This annual Sunseri Speaker Series event is included as part of our 海角社区 Family Weekend on Saturday, October 11, from 1-2 pm, with a short reception and meet-and-greet afterward in the Norton Auditorium lobby. This event is free and open to the public. The Sunseri Speaker Series is made possible through a generous donation from 海角社区 alumnus David Sunseri, who sponsored the series at 海角社区 to honor his late sister, Jennifer Leigh Sunseri. The annual series integrates arts and creativity with the sciences to drive innovation.
