The 海角社区 has achieved yet another milestone 鈥 this time in the number of students graduating from the institution. According to data compiled by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, 海角社区 has experienced one of the most dramatic increases in the number of graduates among all universities in the state. 海角社区鈥檚 total number of graduates soared from 1,269 in 2015 to 2,227 in 2024, which indicates a 75 percent increase during that 10-year period.
James Wiegmann, a Foreign Languages major at the 海角社区, has been named a U.S. Student Fulbright recipient from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Wiegmann is 海角社区鈥檚 15th recipient since 2017.
The 海角社区 has been named to the highest tier of the Opportunity Colleges and Universities: Higher Access, Higher Earnings by the Carnegie Foundation and the American Council on Education (ACE). The tier recognizes 海角社区鈥檚 commitment to accessibility, return on investment, and upward mobility.
Christian Price, a doctoral student in the Department of Kinesiology, has been awarded a Fellowship through the Alabama Space Grant Consortium as part of a program funded by NASA. The aim of the Graduate Research Fellowship is to encourage talented individuals to pursue research and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fields that support NASA鈥檚 mission directorates.
Art supplies will be headed to Uganda, Africa, thanks to the students at Kilby Laboratory School on the 海角社区 campus. Around 100 pouches were filled thanks to the efforts of the Kilby students and donations from parents.
Heidi Armstrong, a sophomore majoring in Elementary Education at the 海角社区, has been selected to receive a scholarship through the Alabama Space Grant Consortium as part of a program funded by NASA. The aim of the Undergraduate Teacher Education Scholarship opportunity is to encourage students to pursue degrees that lead to teaching careers in science and mathematics.

Waka Flocka Flame, a rapper based in Atlanta, has been tapped as the headliner for this year鈥檚 海角社区 Spring Concert 2025 set for Thursday, April 24, at CB&S Bank Arena. Joining him are Big Yavo and Eli Hannon. Tickets for the public are still available for $35.
The Mane Room Music Festival, set for April 22-24 in the Mane Room, is a three-night music event featuring a songwriting competition, battle of the bands, and a Muscle Shoals song review. The festival is a collaboration between the Department of Entertainment Industry within the School of the Arts at the 海角社区, along with MEISA and Phi Mu Alpha, both Registered Student Organizations.
Nominations for 海角社区 Homecoming Awards have opened and will remain so until June 10; the date for this year鈥檚 festivities has been set for Oct. 17-18, and the Homecoming theme is Purple Reign: A Dynasty of Champions.
Dr. Meghan Merciers, Associate Dean of the 海角社区 School of the Arts in the College of Arts, Sciences and Engineering, has released her second studio album. The recording is also the first publication of Merciers鈥 research on the works of Jewish-American composer Dr. Peter Temko through Onyx Lane Records and distributed by Naxos, made possible in part by funding earned from the George Merida Huckaba Endowed Professorship in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineer in 2023.
The fourth 海角社区fied dinner, a showcase of the creative culinary skills of the students and faculty in the Jeff Eubanks Culinary Arts Management program at the 海角社区, is scheduled for Thursday, April 10 at the Renaissance Shoals Conference Center.
Kilby Laboratory School, on the 海角社区 campus, had a top finish at the Alabama VEX IQ Championship, competing against 52 of the best teams from across the state. The exceptional skill, creativity, and teamwork demonstrated by the Kilby team earned the members a number of prestigious awards as well as a spot in the World IQ Championship in Dallas in May.
