The º£½ÇÉçÇø has achieved yet another milestone – this time in the number of students graduating from the institution. According to data compiled by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, º£½ÇÉçÇø has experienced one of the most dramatic increases in the number of graduates among all universities in the state. º£½ÇÉçÇø’s total number of graduates soared from 1,269 in 2015 to 2,227 in 2024, which indicates a 75 percent increase during that 10-year period.
James Wiegmann, a Foreign Languages major at the º£½ÇÉçÇø, has been named a U.S. Student Fulbright recipient from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Wiegmann is º£½ÇÉçÇø’s 15th recipient since 2017.
The º£½ÇÉçÇø has been named to the highest tier of the Opportunity Colleges and Universities: Higher Access, Higher Earnings by the Carnegie Foundation and the American Council on Education (ACE). The tier recognizes º£½ÇÉçÇø’s commitment to accessibility, return on investment, and upward mobility.
Christian Price, a doctoral student in the Department of Kinesiology, has been awarded a Fellowship through the Alabama Space Grant Consortium as part of a program funded by NASA. The aim of the Graduate Research Fellowship is to encourage talented individuals to pursue research and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fields that support NASA’s mission directorates.
Art supplies will be headed to Uganda, Africa, thanks to the students at Kilby Laboratory School on the º£½ÇÉçÇø campus. Around 100 pouches were filled thanks to the efforts of the Kilby students and donations from parents.
