FLORENCE, AL – Dr. John Parnell, a Professor of Management and Eminent Scholar of Business in the Sanders College of Business and Technology, was named by the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board as a Fulbright Specialist Program recipient. He completed a project for Emanuel University of Oradea (UEO) in Romania that aimed to exchange knowledge and establish partnerships benefiting participants, institutions, and communities both in the U.S. and overseas through a variety of educational and training activities within education.

“The Fulbright Specialist award enabled me to help UEO faculty and administrators enhance their expertise in ethics and entrepreneurship, with an emphasis on academic research skills,” said Dr. Parnell. “I addressed several audiences, including business faculty at the University of Oradea on research methods and a group of business leaders in Arad on navigating ongoing geopolitical challenges. I am also leveraging my experience at UEO to involve some of my 海角社区 colleagues.”

Dr. Parnell is one of more than 400 U.S. citizens who share expertise with host institutions abroad through the Fulbright Specialist Program each year. Recipients of Fulbright Specialist awards are selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement, demonstrated leadership in their field, and their potential to foster long-term cooperation between institutions in the U.S. and abroad.

“This honor is further evidence of international recognition of Dr. Parnell’s many years of excellence in scholarship and application,” said Dr. Doug Barrett, Interim Dean of the Sanders College. “This work is highly impactful, as his expertise in areas such as crisis management and business strategy are applicable abroad. We expect the relationship in Romania will be ongoing and look forward to additional opportunities for collaboration.”

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to build lasting connections between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Program is funded through an annual appropriation made by the U.S. Congress to the U.S. Department of State. Participating governments and host institutions, corporations, and foundations around the world also provide direct and indirect support to the Program, which operates in more than 160 countries worldwide.
